Home - A Week in Faversham - Tuesday

Even though it was a bit cooler than we expected, we decided to go to Broadstairs for the day.

We had breakfast at the Pavilion while enjoying views over the sea.

After breakfast, we explored Broadstairs and found this historical gem.

The plaque on the wall says: Charles Dickens lived here and wrote park of Barnaby Rudge in 1841

Views over Viking Bay

After a while we discovered a little-known historic gem: Bleak House. This is where Charles Dickens lived and worked.

We made our way along a steep, winding path to the main entrance. We found our way to the garden and admired the views.

Great Expectations was 13th novel by Charles Dickens and his penultimate completed novel: a bildungsroman that depicts the personal growth and personal development of an orphan nicknamed Pip.

You can imagine the great man doing the same pose 170 years ago while contemplating the next amazing idea.

We decided to hang for a while in this great building and appreciate CD over a glass of wine.

The plaque says: In this room Charles Dickens has described himself as "eating a strong lunch after walking a dozen miles or so"

This is the Charles Dickens room. He could gaze out over the sea and create great works of literacy.

Bleak house was called Fort House until Charles Dickens died.

Afterwards we explored the dungeons under the house.
